FAQ

Three tricolor puppies on steps

Do you ship puppies?
No, we do not ship puppies for a few reasons. We like to meet new owners personally and be sure that our puppies are going to good, loving homes. We also like our new owners to meet their puppies, so they know that their new family member will be a good fit (although they usually are!). Finally, we just think the shipping process can be very stressful and possibly dangerous. You can, of course, fly in and accompany your new puppy on the plane if you wish. But if you live too far away, we are sure there are other great breeders out there, just be sure to do your research to avoid puppy mills, backyard breeders, and even scammers!

Do you have a waiting list?
We do not. We are never sure how many puppies we will have, or what colors or sexes. The best way to get your new puppy is to keep checking in, and we will be in touch when we have a puppy that fits your needs. We prefer a more personal touch with potential new adopters, rather than just a list of names.

What is the adoption process?
Once you have contacted us with what you want in a puppy, we will let you know when we have a litter with availability. We can send pictures, and we encourage you to come visit your puppy prior to bringing it home if you are able. There will be a non-refundable deposit to reserve a puppy, and they are typically ready to go home with you at 10-12 weeks. If you choose to change their food, we will provide a bag of the food they are used to so you can transition, and a packet of information about your new friend and about Cavaliers in general. We recommend bringing a crate so they can be safe and relax on the ride home.

Are puppies trained at all before being adopted?
All of our puppies will be crate trained and well socialized when they come to their new home. Crate training makes the transition to house training much easier, and our puppies rarely have issues learning.

What kinds of health testing do you do?
Puppies get vet checked before they go to their new home to ensure that they are free from any illness. Adults get hearts, eyes, and hips certified, and have their hearts checked yearly by a cardiologist. They also get genetic testing for EFS, CC/DE and DM. No dog with health concerns is ever bred, but we have a solid history of exceptionally healthy dogs, with many living to their mid to late teens.

Do you have a health guarantee?
There is a two year health guarantee against any genetic health issues that require medication or surgery. We are confident in the health of our dogs and want to give future puppy parents that same certainty.

Do you ever have adults available?
Yes, occasionally we have retired breeders available for a reduced cost. They will be spayed or neutered before going home with you, and ready to enjoy retirement for many years.
